Techno Train 

When Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) set out to create its first-ever “Techno Train” experience for Dallas Mavericks fans, we were given days—not weeks—to bring the concept to life. The vision was bold: transform a standard commuter train into a traveling DJ battle featuring DJ Sober and DJ Blackbeard, carrying Dallas Mavericks fans from Parker Road Station in Plano to Victory Station in Dallas. Cadence Studios was brought in midweek and immediately went to work, developing a production plan that could support two fully independent DJ setups across separate train cars—all within the constraints of a moving vehicle and an active transit platform.

After a Friday site meeting to map out logistics, the team prepared for a tight 45-minute load-in and testing window before boarding. But when Saturday arrived, the train was delayed, cutting that window nearly in half—while a platform full of energized fans, DART staff, and security filled the space. With temperatures soaring on one of the hottest days of the year, Cadence Studios adapted in real time, coordinating closely with all parties on site to safely and efficiently load in equipment and deploy audio systems without disrupting operations or passenger flow.

In under 30 minutes, the team installed and tested 10 speakers across two train cars, fully supporting both DJs and ensuring consistent sound coverage for the entire ride. Despite the compressed timeline and challenging conditions, the train departed on schedule—fully transformed into a high-energy, immersive experience that delivered on DART’s vision and energized fans all the way to the arena.

This project is a clear example of Cadence Studios’ ability to execute under pressure, think creatively within unconventional environments, and collaborate seamlessly with multiple stakeholders. When timelines shift and conditions are less than ideal, our team remains focused on one goal: making the event happen—no matter what it takes.
